Tenses and Voices

Teaching objectives:
By the end of this section, students will be able to:
1. understand the usage of several frequently used tenses;
2. identify the verb forms of some frequently used tenses;
3. use the right form of the tenses to complete a letter;
4. apply tenses and voices in new contexts appropriately
Teaching procedures:
Step one
Students are to get a general idea of the usage of some tenses and voices through free talk and blank filling.
Step two
Students are to read a letter from Emma, and identify the tenses and voices used in this letter.
Step three
Students are to review some of the tenses which are often mistakenly used, based on the letter from Emma.
After that, students will have a better understanding of some sentence patterns, and get to know more about tenses and voices.
Step four
Students are to complete a reply to Emma, trying to use the tenses and voices correctly.
Step five
Students are to compose a reply for Emma, thanking Sylvie for what she has done.
They are to focus on what tenses and voices should be used in this context.
Assignments:
1. Pay more attention to tenses and voices in different contexts.
2. Finish the letter using correct tenses and voices.
