一、教学内容分析:
【What】主题意义和主要内容
本书是“阳光英语分级阅读”七年级下的一本故事类读物,讲述了男孩Running Deer和小泥驹之间的故事。体现了“人与人之间的互相帮助,互相成就”这一主题。
Running Deer用泥巴捏了一匹渴望已久的小泥驹,并把它当成真正的马驹一样照顾和爱护。当Running Deer与部落其他人走散后,小泥驹变成了一匹真正的马,并且从帮助Running Deer找到了大部落。此后,小泥驹便一直帮助Running Deer打猎和作战,直到他成为部落首领。但是由于Running Deer的一次疏忽,小泥驹被淋了雨,最终变成了一摊泥浆。
【How】文本结构和语言修辞
本书按照事情的发展顺序,用一般过去时讲述了男孩Running Deer制作小泥驹、得到小泥驹帮助、失去小泥驹、重获小泥驹以及永远失去小泥驹这一过程,在这过程中与小泥驹之间的关系逐渐亲密,如同朋友、亲人般彼此照顾、互相帮助。语篇在叙事中使用大量的动词、形容词等描述性语言,很好地衬托出了人物的心理活动。书中惟妙惟肖的插图也从细节处辅助了情节的推动与人物的刻画,为读者的阅读降低了难度、增添了乐趣。此外,作者多次运用了对比的手法,展现了Running Deer对小泥驹发自肺腑的热爱,使读者能身临其境地体验主人公的情感。
【Why】写作意图
本书通过讲述男孩Running Deer和小泥驹之间的故事,向读者展示了他们之间互相帮助,互相照顾以及互相成就的过程。通过阅读这本书,可以让学生体会到人与人之间的“爱与帮助”,小泥驹这个形象就如同生活中的“朋友”、“亲人”,无私帮助着我们,可引导学生结合自身经历,体会人物情感,从而引导学生要真心对待身边的人。
二、教学目标:
By the end of the lesson, the students are expected to be able to:
1. Outline the brief plot by answering some literal questions.
2. Analyze the character’s feelings in different events by answering inferential questions and
finding out related supporting evidence such as the characters’ words and actions.
3. Talk about the themes of the story by evaluating the relationship between Running Deer and the mud pony.

The mud pony didn’t have a rest on the way. He tried his best to help Running Deer. It was a tiring trip for both of them. 1. When they found his family, what did Running Deer do first? 2. What do you think of Running Deer from his action? 3. But did the mud pony need food? What did it really need? P14-21 Someone else in the tribe also wanted it. 1. Who wanted the mud pony? 2. Why did the chief want the mud pony? 3. Did Running Deer agree? Did he really want to give the mud pony to the chief? 4. Why did he do it at last? The next day, the mud pony helped the chief in the hunting . But near the end, it fell and broke its leg. 5. How did the chief feel? What did he do? 6. How did Running Deer feel? What did he do? There is a big contrast between their feelings and action. 7. Why did they have different attitudes towards the mud pony with a broken leg? 8. What did the mud pony mean to the chief/Running Deer? 9. What did the mud pony do to help Running Deer in return(作为回报)? P22-24 1. What happened to the mud pony in the end? 2. Why? That’s why he lost it forever. |

With the help of the pony, Running Deer became the best hunter and the new chief . It became a heap of mud. RD forgot to cover the mud pony with a blanket./ RD no longer needed his help. |
